Today is my birthday (!!!) and the 19th day of my diet revamp.
I had a wonderful weekend spent with family. We dined out twice, and both restaurants had great options that fit with my new diet revamp. I hesitate to recommend the one new restaurant just around our corner - it just opened, and is super tiny, and I don't want to give this little secret away but the owners here were so kind and enthusiastic, so check out 4 Suyos, a Peruvian restaurant in Logan Square. I had a seitan, mushroom and potato skillet type dish that was fantastic. And then on Sunday, my entire family feasted on carry outs from my favorite Indian restaurant of all times: Ashoka. I could eat Bhel Poori forever.
So no, I don't feel too deprived at all. It really is *not* hard to go vegan. I suppose since I've only been at this for not even a month I haven't had the chance to miss my dear old friends cheese and butter, but honestly, there are so many other meal options, I'm not missing them very much at all.
